Volunteer Duties

What AAHMSNJ Volunteers Do

These functions may be combined in various ways depending on the skills of the volunteers.

Outreach: Travel to assist in offsite events, distribute materials and promote our galleries.

Education: Individuals with a background or interest in education and children’s arts activities can help facilitate field trips and other family-oriented events.

Special Events: Assist with various aspects of event preparation, such as set-up, clean-up, refreshments and guest registration.

Docent: Once attending docent training sessions, guide tours of current exhibitions to school, community and civic groups by appointment.

Visitor Services at our Front Desk: Help make a guests’ first impression of the museum a positive one. Greet visitors and provide information regarding the museum, exhibitions and various programs. Visitor services volunteers also collect admission fees and sell museum memberships and items from our gift shop.

Technology: Assist in computer and website maintenance or fuel your creative outlet through opportunities in video/film and photography. Other technological opportunities are also available upon a volunteer’s background and experience.

Office Assistance: Help museum staff with mailings, filing, copying, data entry and other special projects at the museum.
