Finding Myself In the Abstract: A new exhibit by Carla Cornick
At AAHMSNJ Atlantic City (Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University)
2200 Fairmount Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ
AAHMSNJ will host an exhibit by local artist Carla Cornick from July 25th to September 28th at our Atlantic City location in the Noyes Arts Garage (2200 Fairmount Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ). Cornick, who was part of our Jersey Girls Exhibit, will be featured in a one-woman show entitled "Finding Myself in the Abstract."
Carla studied music and theology at a small Christian college in Delaware, where she met her first husband. For 18 years, she served as a worship leader, musician, and singer, deeply involved in church leadership and outreach. During the pandemic, she channeled her creativity into making over 3,000 masks for first responders, friends and local businesses. This led to her creating a line of custom-embroidered masks for Rancocas Valley Regional High School graduates and other surrounding school districts' graduating classes. This experience ignited her passion for quilting, fueling the artistic side of her brain, leading to her first exhibit, "Covid Quilts," in February 2021. Since then, Carla has created, exhibited and sold numerous vibrant art quilts that tell stories of joy, growth and healing.

Carla's art has been a source of solace and resilience throughout her life, one that has quite literally saved her from herself in her darkest hours. Additionally, she has held and participated in numerous exhibitions including "Jersey Girls" at AAHMSNJ in Newtonville and The Hunter Gallery in Merchantville, NJ. Carla's new solo AAHMSNJ exhibit at the Noyes Art Garage will display the importance she places on creativity and its relevance to our core identities.
