Artist Sydnéi SmithJordan returns to the African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey for Women’s History Month with a new show. Her exhibit, Curves and Curveballs: Women in Baseball.

The exhibit will be on view at our Atlantic City location from March 2 to April 29, 2023. 

Ms. SmithJordan has exhibited widely on both coasts and throughout our region. Her paintings are distinctive for her liberal use of gray tones with elements of abstraction, collage, and graphics. The artist will include a group of painted skateboards in the exhibit as well. 

The women in this exhibit are baseball players, a subject with which the artist is familiar. Several of her previous exhibits have concentrated on players in the Negro Leagues in general, and also on players in Cape May’s Negro League. This series broadens her focus with an inclusive selection of female athletes and continues her explorations into themes of heritage and history. 

 

Museum hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11 AM to 5 PM.
